About Constitution Week

U.S. Constitution Week is observed annually September 17-23 in honor of the original signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, during the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was ratified in 1788 and operationalized in 1789. As the world’s longest surviving written charter of government, the first three words, “We the People,” underscore the fact that the United States federal government was purposefully designed to ensure that it served its citizens – not the other way around.

Today, an increasing number of communities are organizing events to commemorate and celebrate one of the United States’ most important founding documents. As the framework for achieving the conditions necessary to preserve the vision of liberty described in the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution will always be “married” to the Declaration. One would not exist nor succeed without the other.

We hope you will join us in celebrating Constitution Week in 2025! All citizens, businesses, schools, churches and other organizations are encouraged to chip in and elevate the visibility and importance of the U.S. Constitution this September. It’s always up to the current generation to ensure that it passes the torch of liberty to future generations.
